The Goal: Healthy glowing skin by improving skin tone, texture, hydration, and fighting acne.
The Plan: 30-minute session, up to 3 times per week.
The Goods: Vitamin C, Glutathione, Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12.
The Science: Collagen and elastin improve the elasticity and structure of skin. Collagen is a vital fibrous protein that is found all throughout the body; it connects and supports tissues including skin, bone, muscles, tendons, cartilage and organs. Elastin is a protein in connective tissue that is responsible for giving structure to skin and organs. It allows your skin to resume shape after stretching or contracting. Together, collagen and elastin keep connective tissue firm and help hold its shape. 1% of collagen is lost every year after the age of 20. As collagen is lost, fine lines and wrinkles appear.
The Deal: Vitamins C is vital to the formation of collagen, and necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues, including hair, skin and nails. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant, reducing free radical damage to collagen and elastin. Glutathione, the master antioxidant, detoxifies the body and promotes cellular repair. It is one the most important molecules to stay healthy and prevent aging. B-Complex Vitamins promote healthy hair, skin and nails. Vitamin B1, or Thiamine, improves blood circulation to the scalp, hastens hair growth and provides oxygen to hair follicles. It is also an antioxidant that protects from the effects of aging, smoking and alcohol consumption. Vitamin B2, or Riboflavin, is an antioxidant that keeps skin healthy and helps prevent acne breakouts. Vitamin B3, or Niacin, has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe dry, irritated skin and reduce redness. It boosts hydration by helping skin retain moisture, and also treats acne. Vitamin B6, or Pyridoxine, helps balance the hormones that cause acne. B12 assists the body with the metabolism of protein which, in turn, promotes the growth and repair of skin cells.
